If you’re wondering how to make money livestreaming an event, you’ve come to the right place! This article will explain how to configure an event in way that allows attendees to purchase a ticket on Eventbrite and instantly receive a unique join link. This link is their ticket to the livestream event and by default allows them to view on one device at a time (or a higher number if you choose). No more losing out on sales when attendees purchase a ticket and send the link to all their friends!

This option is ideal for event organizers looking to host fully virtual as well as hybrid events with both an in-person and online audience. Two types of tickets can be created (ie. In-person and online at different price points) and only the online tickets imported to Eventscape.

Prerequisites

  1. An event site created on Eventscape. If you haven’t done this yet, you can get started for free here.
  2. An event on Eventbrite with tickets setup. Setting up an Eventbrite event is outside the scope of this article, but there are plenty of great guides online if you need help with that.

Configure Your Eventscape Site

Here are a few steps to get your event site ready for ticketing.

  1. Check that your Event has registration enabled: Click the Event Settings tab on the left. If Registration Required is not checked, check the box and click Update Event.
  2. Next, click the Design tab and select Registration Page to edit the registration page. Move your mouse over the design block that has the registration form. A toolbar will appear in the top left corner of the design block that has a icon. Press to delete the registration block. This will ensure nobody is able to register for free.
  3. Optional: Add a design block with a description and link to purchase tickets: It’s unlikely any attendees will ever visit the registration page if they are going directly to the ticketing platform to purchase tickets. However, if you would like, you can use the registration page as a landing page to provide more info about the event and link from there to your ticketing platform. Hover over the top block and click Add Design Block. Select text block from the drop down and then click the text block to add it. Replace the default text with the event time and description. To create a link, type your button text (ie. Purchase Tickets), highlight the button text, then click . Enter your ticket purchase URL and click Insert. Always test to make sure the link works properly.

Delete Scheduled Email in Eventbrite

By default, Eventbrite schedules a reminder email to go out to registrants two days in advance. You will be using Eventscape to send out reminder emails (so that they can include attendee’s unique viewing links). To delete the scheduled email in Eventbrite, click the Manage Attendees tab, then click Emails to Attendees. You will see one reminder email scheduled. Click the delete button to delete the email.

Connect Eventbrite to Eventscape

Now that you have an event on Eventscape and tickets on Eventbrite, it’s time to connect the two.

  1. Head over to eventscape.io
  2. Make sure you have the correct event selected, then click the Event Settings tab.
  3. Click Integrations, then Connect Eventbrite.
  4. The wizard will guide you through the process of getting your Eventbrite API Key and selecting your organization, event, and ticket types to be imported. The whole process takes about 30 seconds.
  5. Once connected, it will display the status of the integration (similar to below).

Your tickets are now setup to automatically import to Eventscape! Your attendees will receive their unique link to join the event either from the confirmation email they receive after purchasing a ticket or from the reminder emails you have scheduled in Eventscape. It is recommended to always do a test ticket purchase to ensure all is setup properly before advertising tickets for sale.

Choice of Content Delivery Network (CDN)

For ticketed events and other events with high security requirements, it’s important to choose a CDN that allows embed privacy restricted to a specific domain. This prevents viewers from taking the embed code and putting it on a different site for viewing. We recommend Vimeo or Dacast for this.

Here are the steps to enable embed privacy on Vimeo:

  1. In Vimeo, click the Live Events tab.
  2. Select your event
  3. Click the embed tab
  4. On the Embed privacy dropdown, ensure that specific domains is selected.
  5. In the domains input, enter app.eventscape.io and your event link (ie. my-event.eventscape.io). It should look like the following (except with your event link where it says my-event.eventscape.io)
    Vimeo Embed Priacy example

Congratulations! You are now setup to do a highly secure event where viewers instantly receive a unique join link as soon as they purchase a ticket.
